What is VEED.IO?

VEED.IO is an online video editing platform with a simple mission: enabling anyone to create professional-looking videos. For too long, video creation has been inaccessible to so many people — you’ve had to download & learn complicated software, and buy expensive equipment. What if you could create a video in five minutes, right from your browser? That’s what we’re building here at VEED.

We're already used by millions of creators around the world — from kids & grandparents, to ambitious YouTubers, to companies like Amazon & Google — all using our products to tell stories, create content & grow their audience.

Since we started VEED four years ago, we’ve grown faster than we could have ever imagined. We’ve gone from one user to millions. From no revenue to over $10M ARR. From bootstrapped to backed by Sequoia, one of the biggest VC firms in the world. From a team of two to a team of 150+. And we’re still growing — we’d love for you to be a part of our journey.

Design at VEED

We believe that design is the differentiator in our products — there are so many video creation tools out there already, but most of them are hard to learn & painful to use. We’re not interested in being just a little better than our competitors — we want to change the game here, and we believe we can do that by making video creation simple, fast & enjoyable.

We’re asking ourselves questions like this: How do we make our experiences as beginner-friendly as possible, whilst still giving our power-users all the power they need? How do we build for the most common use cases, but keep our tools flexible enough that our users can surprise us with what they create? These are hard questions, but it’s fun to figure out the answers.

Right now, we’ve got a team of five amazing product designers, and we feel that it’s time to take it to the next level — we’re looking for someone to lead that team and help us become world-class.

What you will do

• Shape VEED’s product design and product design processes. You’ll come up with answers to questions like: How do we design? What are our design principles? How do we get better?
• Build and grow the team. We have five fantastic designers at the moment, but our ambitions are massive — you’ll be working to hire more designers, and helping everyone on the team grow individually.
• Make complex things simple. We believe that video creation can be simple, fast & enjoyable. To do this, we’re taking the complexity out of advanced technical workflows, so that they can be used by anybody. You’ll help figure out how we do this: what metaphors we use, and how everything fits together.
• Support collaboration between designers and the rest of the company. You’ll be working with engineers, researchers, PMs and more to ensure collaboration is as smooth as can be. 

What it takes to be successful in the role

• You have a proven track record. We're a young company and at this stage, we need people in leadership that have been through this before. You've built successful products and world-class design teams.
• You're a team player. Design is not just a thing that designers do, it’s something that everyone in the company has to think about.
  • We work in multi-disciplinary teams — you'll work with a group of super-talented PMs, designers, engineers and researchers. Together you'll have to solve really complex problems, so you need to communicate well and be able to have good discussions with domain experts.
• You’re a thought leader. You have a vision about what great product design is, and are willing to share that vision and fight for it. We want to put VEED on the map in the design world, and you will be at the forefront of that.
• Bonus points if you’ve worked on something that is in some way similar, like a photo editor or a product that involves storytelling.
